The updates and goodies just keep on coming!!!

The IQ had another update this month.  Included in this FREE update is the ability to take any repeat pattern and place it on a path of your choice.  Shown to the right is just a curve brought out of the geometric catalog (free).  A repeat pattern is then placed on top of it and it will automatically follow the path.  (example #1)

The next picture is the same geometric curve showing what happens when one simple repeatable leaf is put on the path.  We have the ability to adjust how  many repeats, height and to flip the X or Y coordinates.   We can put a simple feather also on this same path to create a feathered pattern.  (example #2

The next examples is showing a panto pattern placed on the path of a circle.  The pattern automatically warps to fit the circle.  Again, we have the ability to adjust how many repeats and heights.  (example #3)

The new path feature gives us endless possibilities to fit shapes within a quilt.

New Computer Art Patterns
Another new feature included in the update are "computer art patterns."  These patterns have multiple uses, from using as background fills like curved crosshatching to letting us automatically make rays for wholecloth designs and more.  Below are some examples of the computer art patterns.  These examples just scratch the surface of what can be done with these.
Path Pattern Examples
This first example is bringing up a computer art rays.  We have the ability to set how many lines we want in the ray with a touch of the + or - buttons.  Then I've used it as a background for a simple flower.  Imagine using this for a background for a wholecloth just to mark areas.

304 Wholecloth with your IQ
April 14, 2010, from 8 am to 12 pm - Providence, RI, US
Speaker: Linda Lawson

Do you have a wholecloth design in your head or  drawn out on paper that you want to finally execute with the IntelliQuilter?  Come join Linda and learn how she uses the IQ to the fullest.  We will be using a block library of shapes (to be given out to students) for design work, a creative method for marking registrations (including rays)  and tips and tricks on getting the fabric to “behave” while being stitched on.   Embellishment and  trapunto  (using the IQ) demonstrations will also be included.  Just when you thought it couldn’t be done with a computerized system,  learn how  a little creativity from you, and all the bells and whistles of the IntelliQuilter can help you produce a wholecloth quilt like you never dreamed you could do.
